If a murder mystery in a box sounds like you're kinda thing be sure to check out my review for Post Mortem LA: Death in La La Land from @mysteriouspackageco! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ As with most noire detective stories, this one starts with a dead body and some pretty suspicious circumstances! The investigation centres around a fairground in Los Angeles and you are transported back in time to the 1940’s. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ You will question suspects, follow leads and decipher puzzles to solve the unraveling mystery. Nothing is quite as it seems in La-La-Land… 🤡🤡🤡
I've had the opportunity to play a preview copy of Lander, which is not only incredible quality but it's also a really great game! Lander is a resource management strategy game for 2-4 players, set on a new planet which you are preparing for habitation, you will need to build your resources and train your crew to earn the most missions stars. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I'll have a preview for you nearer the time as the Kickstarter isn't until spring 2020 but I wanted to let you all know about a really great initiative that Intrepid Games is using to bring Kickstarter, Brick and Mortar stores and gaming venues, together! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ They have partnered with 130 top-rated board game venues around the world all of whom have received a demo copy of Lander and will have game gurus available to help you get started playing so you can Play Before You Pledge! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Head over to @landerthegame to find your nearest venue or play on Tabletop Simulator, you won't regret it ;) Lander is definitely one to watch! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ [For full transparency, I will be doing a paid preview video later but this post is not paid for, I just believe in this game and what these guys are doing in the community]
🎃 Happy Halloween! 🎃 Which spooky games are you playing today? As planned we played @atmosfearthegame with Daniel's brothers! In all honesty this game was not for me, it's a reasonably entertaining experience but a lot of that is down to the company probably 😂 but I just can't with the whole roll and move thing 🤷🏻‍♀️ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I asked Daniel what he thought to get both sides of it for you as he's played it before, and he said "it was good nostalgic fun. The app adds more variety and randomisation to the original VHS version which was the same every time. The components were also nicer." ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ On another note, I did finally get to use my topper on the coffee table! We don't play in the living room very often unless we have a lot of people playing at different tables, but when I built my tabletop riser for D&D I designed the top to fit nicely on the coffee table too, just in case!
This post has been a long time coming as I started this project AGES ago but couldn’t share it with you as it was a secret for my players, which has now been revealed! The backstory to this D&D.I.Y is that I wanted a ‘treasure map’ of sorts that used UV ink with a black light to reveal information and was considering just giving my players a little UV torch but I wanted it to feel more thematic so after a lot of research I decided to make a UV wand! It was a pretty simple project with a big payoff, I was seriously so proud of myself and struggled to keep it under wraps for so long 😂 If you want to see more check out my latest blog post via the link in my bio!
Who remembers the interactive VHS or DVD game Atmosfear?! I never played it personally but Daniel and his brothers loved it, so when the opportunity to play the brand new remake came along, I couldn't say no! The new version is app driven rather than DVD based which I think I prefer as it makes it a little more flexible. We're hoping to get it played over Halloween with Daniel's brothers to be at it's most spookiest! I'll let you know how they feel it compares! Thanks @atmosfearthegame for this review copy! 🖤💀🖤 #atmosfearthegame
FINALLY played Burgle Bros after it sitting on our shelf of no-shame for absolutely ages!! We've not been able to play much recently but when we do we've been in a bit of a co-op mood so it's nice to add another co-op option to our selection! Does anyone else go through phases where you play a lot of the same kind of games for a while?
REVIEW : : In Escape Room in a Box: Flashback a mad scientist has turned herself into a werewolf and her childhood friend, Dr. Lisa David has warned you that the werewolf is just 90 minutes away from finding you and turning you into her next meal. The only way to survive is to solve the puzzles that Dr Lisa David has left for you by following the 3 different “paths”. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ The solutions to these puzzles will lead you to construct an “Amulet of De-Werewolfication” that has the power to return her friend to her human state. But if you fail to construct the amulet within 90 minutes you are caught by the hungry werewolf and meet a rather unpleasant end! Have you tried this escape room or it's predecessor The Werewolf Experiment? View the full review on the blog, link in profile and don't forget to swipe for the micro review!
How did I completely miss MourneQuest when it came to Kickstarter?! It's not an IP I'm familiar with but it looks creepy, it's co-operative and it has mini's so I'm certainly up for giving it a go!! Is this one you backed? I must be losing my touch... I swear I used to live on Kickstarter! Thanks to @asmodeeuk for bringing this game to my attention with a review copy!
#ad PREVIEW : : Occult is a 2 - 5 player card game with heavy take that elements as well as set collection. You will take on the role of a cultist, summoning monsters to take over the world, whilst slaying the monsters of your enemies or playing cards to hinder them so that you can reign supreme! You may form pacts and alliances in this game but those will be short lived as there can only be one winner! The game structure is very simple, if you have a monster card in your hand at the start of your go, you will place this in front of you as a summoned monster, if you have a previously played monster in front of you at the start of your go, this is ‘leveled up’ and if one of your monsters ever reaches level 3, you win the game! When monsters are first summoned they have a unique effect on the game play, such as skipping another players turn or swapping cards around. Once monsters have been played or levelled up, it’s time to take your turn! There are 5 cards that you can play and depending on whether you play just a single card or three of a kind, they can have a more powerful effect: ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 💀 Dancer - x1 Skip next players turn // x3 Skip next 2 players turns 💀 Thief - x1 Steal a card from a player // x3 Steal 3 cards 💀 Merchant - x1 Draw a card then Trade a card // x3 Draw 3 cards, then Trade 💀 Slayer - x1 Set a Monster back a level // x3 Slay a Monster 💀 Banish - x1 Slay a Monster Not only is slaying the monsters of your enemies beneficial as it stops them from winning, it could actually win you the game because If you manage to slay your third monster, you win! Occult is now live on Kickstarter, if you would like to see more you can find my video preview through the link on my profile or head over to @spirithousesociety for the link to the campaign! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ [This is a paid preview, images and words are my own]
